Meet Alanis, she joined Optimum Skills as an apprentice 3 weeks ago after completing our traineeship programme in Newton Aycliffe. Alanis had an interest in pursuing a business admin role, and at the time Optimum were hiring for another business admin apprentice to join and support the team. Since joining Alanis has proven herself as the perfect fit within the team. This week we will be documenting the duties and roles which Alanis carries out throughout her week as an apprentice at Optimum Skills.
Alanis has a few tasks to carry out first thing on a Monday morning, this includes…
Booking rooms, Alanis takes a lead on booking rooms out for those who need them throughout the week. Staff send in their requests to Alanis for rooms and times they need them, she then makes sure that the meeting rooms are updated with this information.
On a Monday, Alanis oversees printing out and sorting the packs ready for the tutors to take to their courses, which start at 12:30 on a Monday, so must be complete by the morning.
Sometimes Alanis is tasked with booking taxis, when requested by a member of staff to help learners when necessary.
On a Monday Alanis also must take the final orders for stationery from members of staff, which are to be put in on Tuesday. This can include chasing up staff members to ensure that everything needed is ordered. Today using excel, Alanis has been finishing off a spreadsheet by inputting the correct data.
Check back tomorrow for Tuesday, to find out more about what could be involved in a business admin apprenticeship. Find out more about our traineeship opportunities here.
