Zoё’s Place – Optimum Skills Chosen Charity

At Optimum Skills we are passionate about fundraising for good causes, especially to support our local community. The staff at Optimum have voted that this year we are supporting Middlesbrough based charity – Zoё’s Place. Zoё’s place is a baby hospice, which provides palliative, respite and end-of-life care to babies and infants, with support for parents and siblings.

We are aiming to raise over £2000 for Zoё ’s Place with different fundraising events, arranged by MIS Manager Janine Doughty, and Delivery Team Leader Chris Humble. A few members of the Optimum Skills team visited Zoё ’s Place to witness, first-hand the amazing work the staff there do for the children and families in need, also to discuss ways we can raise money to support them.

Zoё ’s Place is the only dedicated baby hospice in Middlesbrough, recently they have had to consider closing for two days of the week due to lack of funds. The hospice provides the specialist facilities which are crucial for improving the quality of life for children suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. The hospice supports a lot of families, with services including respite care, therapies, family support, and bereavement support. The work and dedication put in place by the team of staff at Zoё ’s Place is truly inspiring, they are open 24/7 with children staying in their care for long periods and over-night, parents can visit at any point. The care Zoё ’s Place provides also extends to the whole family with days out, nights out and sibling treats, giving them a break and a chance to be children.

We have started our fundraising mission, with 20 members of staff already signed up to take part in the It’s a Knockout event later in June. We have a lot more planned in for the year including the Great North Run. The Optimum team are passionate about raising these vital funds, with updates of our progress and how you can help to come.
